My best guess: That grass needs to stay at a warm temperature to survive thrive continue being grass. Its owner became desperate and kludged together this glue gun conduction machine to warm up the water ever so slightly. Alternative: He was trying to roast those coffee beans and left it on for too long. What do you guys think?
